Show Horse New South Wales
Showing is an opportunity for horses and ponies to compete side by side with others of the same type — from show horse to show hunter, rider and leading rein classes. Participants can be of all ages with horses permitted to compete from age 3 and our tiniest riders in the leading rein being from 5 years to 8 years old. There is no upper age limit.
2.1.1 Definition
A Show Horse is a quality, comfortable, well-mannered and educated riding horse, being sound of wind and limb. The horse should be excellently presented and give the appearance of being a pleasure to handle, watch and ride. It is entirely up to the talent of the rider and those connected with the horse to prepare and show it in the way in which it looks and performs best.
In order to compete in Equestrian NSW Show Horse events riders and owners must be members of Equestrian NSW and horses must be registered and hold a Show Horse Competition Licence.
The Equestrian NSW Horse of the Year is held in March, with competitors striving for prestigious titles which qualify them for the EA Australasian Show Horse and Rider Championships at the end of the year.
Other Equestrian NSW show horse events include the ENSW Show Horse Championships and Central West Show Horse Championships (held for the first time in 2016) and various training days with acclaimed coaches. Show horse is also a discipline of Interschool NSW.
The Equestrian NSW Show Horse Committee is hoping to build on the support from competitors and sponsors of our existing events by providing more shows and functions for our Show Horse enthusiasts in the near future. Watch this space….
