With many new faces on the team this year it was a reminder how special the EA Australasian Show Horse & Rider Championships truly are. Not only is it a National Event where you are competing as an individual you are also competing for your state, with that comes a support base of the best horses and competitors from the Elizabeth Farm Horse of the Year held at Sydney International Equestrian Centre in February 2018. Both Winners and Runner-ups were welcomed to compete, with the third place getter being invited should the winner or runner up withdraw resulting in a great response and some tough competition from the NSW competitors. We had a few challenges thrown at us this year which strengthened the bonds and friendships created at this amazing event. Everywhere we looked strangers were becoming friends, be it finding riding boots to replace broken zips, & bridles missing bit hooks or just asking “are you ok?” when nerves were starting to show. Our team took home the Team Spirit Award for the State Team displaying qualities of best sportsmanship and professionalism practices. Nominated by the EVIC organising committee, volunteers, stewards & marshals this award is a true testament to the 2018 Equestrian NSW Show Horse and Rider Championship Team.

The ENSW Show Horse Committee would like to congratulate all the 2018 Equestrian NSW Team members, who represented the state gaining an award to be proud of and we look forward to future team successes at the next National Championships in 2019.
